Parent and Caregiver Coaching
Personalized support for parents and caregivers seeking practical strategies, collaborative guidance, and the confidence to navigate their family's unique needs.
What We Offer
Parent and caregiver coaching is a collaborative service designed to help you navigate the challenges that can come with raising children.
Whether you're struggling with meltdowns, difficult routines and transitions, school concerns, communication, or simply feeling unsure of what to try next, we'll work together to better understand your family’s needs and develop practical strategies that fit your values, routines, and goals.
Every coaching plan is individualized. Depending on your family's needs, services may include reviewing existing records, observing your child in natural environments, collaborating with caregivers and other professionals, and providing ongoing coaching as you build confidence and create meaningful, lasting change.
-
A brief conversation to learn about your concerns, answer questions, and determine whether Tidepool is the right fit.
-
Review of any existing evaluations, IEPs, 504 Plans, therapy reports, behavior plans, school documentation, or medical records to better understand your child's strengths and needs.
-
A collaborative discussion to learn about your child, your family's routines, strengths, challenges, priorities, and goals.
Any caregiver who spends significant time with the child should be included in this step; this might be a nanny, a grandparent, or a teacher, and can be scheduled separately.
-
Not every family will need an assessment.
When appropriate, assessments can help identify strengths, skill development, and areas where additional support may be beneficial.
This may be recommended if there are no recent evaluations available or if gathering more information will help us create meaningful, individualized recommendations.
-
Observation at home, preschool, school, or in the community to better understand how your child interacts with their environment and identify opportunities for support.
-
The heart of the service. Ongoing sessions focused on problem-solving, learning practical strategies, building parent/caregiver confidence, and adjusting supports as your child grows.
-
Communication with teachers, therapists, physicians, or other providers (with your permission) to promote consistency across settings and support shared goals.
If applicable, limited coaching is available for preschool or daycare teams when appropriate and welcomed by the program.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is parent coaching for?
Parent coaching is designed for families of preschool and elementary-aged children (2–12 years old) seeking individualized support for challenges related to behavior, communication, emotional regulation, daily routines, school, or social development.
A formal diagnosis is not required.
Do you work directly with my child?
Our primary focus is supporting the adults in a child's life. While we may observe or briefly interact with your child to better understand their strengths, needs, and learning style, the heart of coaching is empowering caregivers with practical strategies they can confidently use in everyday life.
By supporting the people who know and love your child best, we can create meaningful, lasting change across the environments that matter most.
Where do services take place?
Services are designed to be flexible and meet your family where support is most meaningful.
Coaching sessions may take place in your home, virtually, or in community settings when appropriate.
Can you collaborate with my child's school or therapy team?
Absolutely. With your permission, we can collaborate with teachers, preschool or daycare staff, therapists, physicians, and other members of your child's support team to encourage consistency across environments and work toward shared goals.
